Here’s a video of several pastors in the Davis area who are talking about iCare. It’s going to happen on May 5th! Gracepoint Davis Church is cleaning up the arboretum.

Here’s an inspring video of a man who ran his race and finished it well. I am so thankful to have personally met Chuck Colson and to have had lunch with him, Pastor Ed, Kelly and several other Gracepoint Church leaders. His books and broadcasts have helped my faith tremendously. He is definitely one of my heroes, and with his passing I am more inspired to run my race and finish it well.
Thank you Chuck, for faithfully serving the Lord and for sharing your thoughts through your books and broadcasts! Thank you also for endorsing Interhigh. You have helped me to run my race and now you are in the cloud of witnesses cheering me on!
One of the joys of being a pastor is sending people to the mission field via a missions tunnel. Just recently we had a couple go out to on a two week mission trip to help provide healthcare. What’s a mission tunnel? Click below (warning, you might get dizzy).
I had a great time at ATTR (All Team Training Retreat). It was great seeing a lot of my friends and former staff members from all of the Gracepoint churches. I’m really excited about how God will use what we received during ATTR. Here’s a quick video of what happened.
This video brought me a lot of joy. I guess it shows that I’m aging…or aged.
Can’t believe it’s a few weeks away!
We had some nice brothers fellowship this past friday. Pulled-pork sandwich dinner, followed by testimonies and a sweet time at RSF. The older brothers beat the younger brothers in Tug-0-war.
I just finished reading “Unbroken” by Laura Hillenbrand. Expecting to read a wonderful story of endurance and survival of a WWII hero who was lost on a raft in the Pacific Ocean, only to be found and imprisoned by the Japanese for almost two years, I also discovered that it’s a powerful Christian testimony of an Olympic track star who found Christ after the most horrendous ordeal that a person could possibly suffer. The read was serendipitous. It’s a must read.
Here’s a great excerpt from the book.
I found a documentary (which pretty much covers the entire book) in the videos below. Though a good summary, the videos don’t do justice to the book. The details are powerful.
God’s love and the power of the cross as demonstrated in Louis Zamperini’s life is amazing.
I’m a great believer, and I believe it with all of my heart that all things work together for good for those who love the Lord and who are called according to His purpose. Christ told us in the Scripture, “I am the way, I am the truth and I am the life.” Christ is the way to God, the way is the truth. People are always seeking truth; the truth is Christ, and He’s the life. But I think our eternal life starts now by faith in Jesus Christ. That is the strength we live by, and death no longer has a sting… not to the Christian.” – Louis Zamperini
Do you remember the Prodgal Son Story from Luke 15:11-32?
“Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.
“Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need.So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs.He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.
“When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.’So he got up and went to his father.
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
“The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.
“Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on.‘Your brother has come,’ he replied, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.’
“The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him.But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’
“ ‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’””

Last week, the middle schoolers at Element did a reenactment skit, and my son, Caleb, is starring as the older son. I’m not sure where he got his hammy-ness. From Esther?

Last friday, the junior high school boys spent time playing football. Here’s a nice video of some of the action. Can someone send this tape to Jeff Tedford? These boys are good. They have good hands, good speed and they’re students of the game. And they boys love the Golden Bears.
Go Bears! Go InterHigh! Go Gracepoint!
